What a book! I loved it from the moment it started. The tension building up and the ending was amazing. I like the war that Aria had to battle within herself for what she had gone through her whole life and what she currently was feeling. This book had a slight Beauty and the Beast aspect to it and the back and forth between Braith and Aria was tension-filled.

I can't wait to read the second!

Set in Italy during World War II, this novel follows the story of Yossarian, a bombardier who is frustrated by the fact that his own army poses a greater threat to him than the enemy. As the number of missions they must fly keeps increasing, Yossarian finds himself caught in a paradoxical dilemma called Catch-22. According to this bureaucratic rule, if he tries to avoid the dangerous missions, he will be considered insane, but if he requests to be relieved, he will be deemed sane and ineligible for exemption. With a blend of humor and darkness, this book explores the absurdity and challenges of war through Yossarian's experiences.

One of my junior year high school war section books. I found this one I liked the best out of all of the others we had to read that year. Even though this book expresses the hardships of war and the relationships between the soldiers it does it in an almost comical way that was very entertaining for high school reading material.

Breya was on the run from taking life but after 100 years she couldn't help it. When the urge took her she sucked the breath out of men extending her life, she was known as a breathtaker. Living all her life alone she has finally found a family that understands what she is going through.

This was a surprisingly refreshing read, I loved how the story progressed and the end! Just need to say wow about the end, it was awesome but I'm not sure how I actually felt about it. Caleko was not all-time favorite character of this story, he was charming and exactly what Breya needed in a lifetime devote of love. I will definitely be checking out the sequel to this book, I'm really excited to see what happens.

Definitely going on my favorites list! If I thought I was blown away by the first one, this one surpassed it! There was so much build-up and tension between the characters. I loved how the story took a turn that I was not expecting from the last one.

Charles has to marry soon or he will lose his title and inheritance to go with it. As luck would have it he fell, quite literally, at the feet of the most perfect woman for him.

This story was exceptionally better than the first one, I would even go so far as to put it on my favorites list. Ellie was so loving and full of life. I loved her positive attitude in the face of everything yet she wasn't afraid to let her temper show. Charles on the other hand was the epitome of a reformed rake. He had a certain idea in his mind about what he wanted but once he met the woman for him everything completely changed. He was so heartwarmingly loving and protective and understanding.

Review: Night Play

Vane and his brother fang are in trouble. After the death of their sister Anya and her puppies due to the fact that vane helped the dark hunters their father banishes them from the clan. Vane must now find a way to protect himself and his brother from being hunted down by their father but along the way he meets bride, a human, and finds out the hard way that she just so happens to be his mate. Now he has just three weeks to convince her to accept him of else he might loose the chance of ever having a mate.

It is nice that Kenyon is able to write about the everyday woman. Bride is by no means the sought after romanticized version of what a woman should be, she just is herself. I loved how vane animalistic nature is so protective of her and it really shows how much he cares in his attitude towards her.

This enchanted world that Sherrilyn Kenyon has developed for readers is truly unique and inspiring. In this novel she once again does not disappoint.

Kenyon inspires a wide range of different characters of all shapes and sizes while going out of the box to make each one unique. All of her characters are liable and really to the every day person. Vane takes charge in a way no other man could as he develops feelings for Bride beyond his control.

I love how characters from the previous books appear and add to the story. Especially Ash and Simi, they just make every book more enjoyable to read!

My Review:

Lily is a much stronger character in this book than in the previous writings. She has more questions answered and challenges to face but her mind is connected with what she thinks the best course it. I loved how readers were able to see a different side to Ronan and more about what made him the way he was. Larkin frustrated me as usual but I was not a huge fan of him in the other books either. All of the character interactions were great although, I would have liked to see Connell a little bit more throughout the story and have him play a bigger role.

Overall I am quite happy with how things ended up playing out. Just like Lily I was having a hard time placing in my mind who I would choose so at the end I really did not know what her decision was going to be. I liked the conclusion and how all of the events played out. I am sorry to see the series is at an end but I am glad that there will be more stories in the future.

My Review:

This book is extremely comprehensive and excellent for seasoned and aspiring writers.  The listing by ‘cultures’ is extremely helpful for reference by what writers are actually writing about.  It tells you where the names came from and their meanings making choosing a name all that much more fun and appealing.

AND you could also use it for potential baby names!

My Review:
What did I think of the first couple chapters? Hello Little Mermaid, where is King Triton. That is exactly the impression I got, I even went back to Goodreads to read the synopsis again just to make sure this was not an alternative version of the Disney fairy tale. Once you get past the first couple chapters though it is nothing like what I was expecting. This is an amazing action packed story with twists and turns at every angle. This is definitely not the typical dystopian type of novel; it was a unique and intriguing story.

Evelyn was resilient against all odds; think of a Katniss character in Hunger Games. Her‘Mother’ was trying to create the perfect world in Elysium and used any means necessary to ensure her world was how she wanted it to be. Despite this fact Evelyn maintained a strong will and pure heart to overcome manipulation and make her own choices about right and wrong. She was constantly thinking of ways to get beyond the many changing obstacles that faced her and thought of only protecting the ones that she loved.

Gavin was a great hero, using his own instincts to guide him through and make the right decisions about whether or not to trust Evelyn. He was good on his word and a protector at heart. I loved him throughout the book and he grabbed my heart right away.

Overall, the author created a fascinating world that characters had to live in. The time frame was not exactly clear so the story is able to fit in any future time. The plot gives off a great lesson of right and wrong and standing for what you believe in and not just going with the flow.

My Review:

I took me until the fourth book in the series came out and my sister’s constant insistence that I read it to finally pick it up but I am VERY glad I did.  Yes it is a sappy teen love story with vampires and werewolves mixed in but that is exactly why it is so good.  The story is very heartfelt and interestingly developed with the characters experiencing and demonstrating a wide range of emotions.

Bella and Edward are fantastic together.  Their level of depth and honesty towards one other rivals that of any adult novel I’ve read AND Meyers was able to exude sexual tension in abundance without having to resort to any sexually explicit scenes.  With the absence of those the reader can actually feel the depth of emotional ties surrounding them.  The secondary characters are fantastic as well.  I have to admit to Alice being my all-time favorite just because of her quirky personality. 

This book just puts me in a happy mood along with the accompanying movies.  I will own them forever and keep reading/watching on a nice rainy day.

My Review:

Patience motives are solely for the wellbeing of her brother.  She wants him to have someone to look up to and Vane Cynster just does not fit that picture.  As a typical Cynster Vane is a gentleman and a rake, he has an overabundance of confidence and has a stubbornness about him to always get what he wants.  The interplay of previous characters is wonderful, especially the parts with Honoria (Devil’s wife) in them. 

Passion and romance are in abundance throughout and the mystery moves the story along at a nice pace.

Swift (Swift Series #1) by Heather London

Meredith, an eighteen year old girl, has never fit in with anyone around her after the deaths of her parents and her twin sister when she was eight, but she could never figure out why. That is until Blake and his family came to town and then the mystery is slowly revealed to her.

This book was amazing! It was an extremely quick read with in-depth characters and an interesting story line. The story was cute and the relationship between Meredith and Blake had me giggling like a school girl. I can't wait for the next book in the series

A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire #2) by George R.R. Martin

Although I liked Games of Thrones a little bit more than this one it still held on to the magical aspect that drew me into the first. I love most of the characters storylines however I did find myself wanting to skip over some of them (Theon), I suppressed this urge and read on.

I like that in this one we get to see a change in the characters and learn a different viewpoint about them (especially Jaime). Sansa is still irritating me and I don’t know why but Bran just gets on my nerves, I know he is a kid but man he just annoys me. Arya and Tyrion are still my favorites and their story just keeps getting better and better!

There is always the problem of keeping the characters straight but I didn’t have as much trouble with that as I did in the first book. It didn’t detract too much from the series and I thought all of the different perspectives made the book so enjoyable.

First of all I love that Martin is not afraid to kill off characters!

The writing is absolutely amazing. Martin’s descriptions of everything are so vivid and detailed that I know exactly what he is trying to convey and am able to imagine the scene in my mind. With that being said the descriptions can become a little lengthy and exaggerated at points, you just can’t have it both ways though! I also love the style and how he breaks each chapter up into a different perspective. From that perspective the readers is able to get a whole three dimensional persona of every character and their thoughts/feelings on what is going on around them. All of the characters are unique and have their own outlook on everything.

There are separate storylines but Martin makes them all work and blend together literally creating a whole new and incredibly interesting world. He also adds just enough history that allows the reader to get the full picture of the universe in which he is writing

This amazing book is the prequel to the wonderful Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. What do you think it would be like to be trapped in a book for 2,000 years, only being released when summoned to be subjected to being a sex slave?
