Review: When Beauty Tamed the Beast

When Beauty Tamed the Beast When Beauty Tamed the Beast by Eloisa James
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 stars

Linnet is the belle of the ball, toast of the town, most beautiful rose among the aristocracy, that is until people think she has made a scandal of herself. That's where piers come in and his unfortunate incident as a child that has left his leg scared and he has difficulty walking making him act like more of a beast than he is. His father, a duke, takes linnet under his wing to try and get her hitched to his son. But neither of them are further in mind from marriage until they figure out they might just be the two most suited people in the world

The book was full of witty conversation, especially between linnet and piers. I quite enjoyed all of their banter together. I found piers' attitude to be somewhat odd, he had an attitude switch the seemed quite abrupt to me the. Flipped back just as suddenly. I also enjoyed all of the medical aspects in this book.

While certainly not a conventional beauty and the beast adaptation I think it certainly embodied the spirit.

Review: Jinni's Wish

Jinni's Wish Jinni's Wish by Marie Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Paz has a chance to find her one true love and she thinks it's all over when she has an accident and ends up in a coma. Little did she know the man of her dreams would end up being her one true love.

Jinni's tale was incredibly sad to hear. The development of jinni and Paz' relationship did not ring true for me. I didn't feel the connection between them that I wanted.

Review: Too Wicked To Kiss

Too Wicked To Kiss Too Wicked To Kiss by Erica Ridley
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 stars

Evangeline is on the run from an abusive stepfather and gets tricked into going to a house party of a suspected murderer. when another murder takes place at the party Gavin of course is the prime suspect. But with her 'gift' she might be the only one that is able to prove his innocence.

I really wanted to like this book way more than I did. I was extremely frustrated by the characterization. If they were all scared s**tless of this supposed killer why was everyone talking bad to him like it was no big deal?!? I just didn't get it. The same thing went for Evangeline, how was she so distrustful of Gavin the. The second he steps foot in her presence alone all she can think of is kissing him and 'doing more...' Seriously?!? It wasn't too favorable of Gavin to go around saying he was going to kill people all the time. I think I was expecting more. The overall story was interesting and I liked the whodunit aspect but come on characters!

Review: Taken

Taken Taken by Willow Danes
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

As R'har travels to earth for a life ate he stumbles upon Jenna and hatches a plan that will give her time to want him. Unfortunately things don't always go as planned.

Since finding Jenna I thought the aliens would have a little bit more sense about what to expect from earth and earth women, apparently I was mistaken. I really didn't like this one as much as the first. The concept did not seem altogether and finalized for the book. Hope was the saving graces oaths the end, I thought her character was pretty good considering her situation. In the beginning of the book though I was seriously beginning to question what I was reading.

Review: Survival

Survival Survival by A.M. Hargrove
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I don't think I'm going to be going on with this series. The relationship seemed just to happen, there was no build up and excitement in what was going on between the characters. It was too forced. The conversations were long winded and not free flowing making the characters seem fake. It takes way too long to get into the meat of the story. The whole backstory/college life drags on.

I liked the idea for the story but it just wasn't executed in a believable manner for me.

Review: Ten

Ten Ten by Gretchen McNeil
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 stars

Meg didn't want to go to the house party but she was unfortunately dragged they by her best friend Minnie. With ten people in the island murder gets started and now they have to figure out who it is before they all end up dead.

I love a good whodunit murder mystery! The author did a very good job with this, I for one did not end up figuring it out but it all made sense in the end. It was very suspenseful and full of anticipation of what was to come.

Review: Nocturne

Nocturne Nocturne by Syrie James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 stars

Nicole is trying to get to the airport after a friends ski wedding however the storm is much stronger than she anticipated. Nicholas, a known recluse, did not bank for a lady to get stranded on his property and now he can't do anything but let her stay. It certainly turns out to be an adventure neither of them bargained for.

This was exactly the story that I was looking for. Perfect for a winters day. The excitement and anticipation between the characters was delightful. There were some narrative parts towards the end from both characters about their lives that I found a little daunting to read all at once but I understood the point the author was trying to make in it.

I was surprised by the ending but in a good way.

Review: Close Remembrance (The Krinar Chronicles, #3) by Anna Zaires

Close Remembrance Close Remembrance by Anna Zaires
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I never expected the enemy of Korum to be who it turned out to be. That was a pleasant surprise because usually I am able to guess who the bad guy is. I liked the growing relationship between Mia and Korum and how it moved forward to be more of a true give-and-take relationship on both sides.

I think this was a really good end to the series (at least for Korum and Mia's story). It will be interesting to see what the author writes further in this world.

Review: Close Obsession (The Krinar Chronicles, #2) by Anna Zaires

Close Obsession Close Obsession by Anna Zaires
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As their story continues Mia still feels insecure in her relationship with Korum. I can't blame her though he wasn't expressing his love for her but wanted her to express it for him. I probably would have gone more to the slave relationship impression and when is he going to get bored with me too.

I'm interested to see how the story is going to end, especially with the developing relationship.

Review: Close Liaisons (The Krinar Chronicles, #1) by Anna Zaires

Close Liaisons Close Liaisons by Anna Zaires
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 stars

Aliens have taken over the planet! Well, not entirely they are merely coexisting with humans. However, being human there is the ideology that they are intruders and so of course a resistance is formed. That's where Mia comes in when she catches the eye of Korum and things just spiral out of control.

I thought Mia was a little too wishy-washy in her attitude toward Korum. Ok so this huge alien race that the humans barely know anything about is here and now one of them is stalking her and wants to have sex with her. That certainly seems like a lot to take it. I got exasperated by the fact that whenever Korum kissed Mia all thoughts of disliking him (especially since she was thinking she was a slave) just flew out the window. There was a lack of communication and understanding between them that I would seriously have needed if I was in Mia's shoes.

I'm interested to read the next book. This seems reminiscent of Evangeline Anderson's Kindred series that I really enjoyed.

Review: Hover

Hover Hover by Melissa West
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Stuck on lodge Ari is trying to figure out whose side she is on and what is happening with her world and this alien planet species. Not to mention trying to figure out exactly what her feelings are for Jackson and how he fits in to everything.

I could totally understand Ari's frustration with Jackson throughout the whole book. For him throwing that bomb of a revelation in the last book I wouldn't entirely trust him either and then to continue not telling me things, ugh. Ari was such a spunky character. I liked her strong will and wanting to do the right thing.

I was so caught up in this story it took me no time at all to read and now I'm extremely frustrated that I don't have the next book. I was totally on the dye of my seat about what was going to happen.

Review: Targeted

Targeted Targeted by Evangeline Anderson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 stars

Two is back and is targeting Emily. Lucky for her the assassin that was hired to kill her finds more of a reason to keep her alive.

Emily was really cute and I liked her personality. She had a no nonsense way about her that I found very refreshing. Targan was a little more complex, I didn't like him as much as some of the other characters but overall I understood her was up against his teachings from when he was younger that were conflicting with his feelings for Emily.

Kate seemed really interesting and I'm really excited to read her story, especially since we already got to see how she interacts with rone
