Men are off limits in trin's world and not worth that much to begin with, really they're not needed. However to make some important deals trin needs to find herself a man statue and that is just where Thrace fits in.
While I did. It find this story to be quite as interesting as the others it did keep me enjoyable entertained.
Trin was extremely set in her ways but I liked how she interacted with Thrace. She could certainly put him in his place when she had to. Thrace went through so much as a kid and how he grew up, his story was really heartbreaking to read about.

Review: The Vacant Chair
The Vacant Chair by Kaylea Cross
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The hardships of war have taken their toll on Bree. Now working as a nurse by chance she meet a wounded soldier named Justin and found a love she never thought she would have again. Their trials aren't over though, they are just beginning for the young couple.
I liked the story overall. There was a part at the ending that I don't think was rally needed but maybe the author wanted to tell a little more about what happened in real life.
Brianna is strong willed and she has a thick skin to be able to deal with all of the hardships she has had to face by herself. With losing almost everyone she has her determination comes through tenfold. Justin's sense of duty is admirable.
There were a couple parts that dragged on but the author did a good job relating the historical aspects. She was really good on accuracy too. The breakup of time was also handled really well.

Review: Parting Gifts
Parting Gifts by Lorraine Heath
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
4.5 stars
Massive is down on her luck and sees no other way out lucky for her Charles comes to her rescue and sweeps her away to become the mother to his three children. Once there though Jesse, Charles brother, threatens to steal her heart.
I loved all of the different characters and especially the contrast between the two brothers. The author made you love the, both equally and for different reasons. Mad die was so strong willed and I loved her bursts of fiery temper with Jesse and how much love she showed for Charles.

Review: Heart of Gold
Heart of Gold by Robin Lee Hatcher
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Shannon west with her father who was wanted as a preacher. She was not prepared for the hardships the west presented and she certainly was not prepared for Matthew.
The book started off extremely slow and I was too keen on all of the shifts in perspective. The book jumped around a lot. Shannon's character grew on me after a while but she still seemed too set in her ways

Review: Her Wyoming Man
Her Wyoming Man by Cheryl St.John
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Being raised as a courtesan didn't give Ella a lot of options. When her friend answered a call for mail order brides Ella jumped at the chance to change her circumstances. Now she just had to make sure her past stayed a secret.
I really enjoyed the book and the characters. The author made them come to life and really seem real. Ella had such a strong personality and big heart for someone that grew up in her situation and I like how Nathan acted towards her.

Review: A Bride in the Bargain by Deeanne Gist
A Bride in the Bargain by Deeanne Gist
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Joe needs to find himself a wife before he loses his land. Anna However is applying for a cooking position and not that of the wife. Both have been duped by Mercer and they will need to figure everything out before the time on the land rights elapses.
The story overall was interesting. It was a little slow in the beginning but I liked Anna's determination to do things as she liked and especially for that time not having to be forced into marriage. There were a lot of interesting little tidbits and I enjoyed how the author relied on actual accounts whenever she could.

Review: Montana Bride
Montana Bride by Joan Johnston
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
3.5 stars
Hetty is hurt and gets picked up with a group traveling west. Now stuck in a situation in which she has to help two little kids she is stuck becoming their mother and a mail order bride.
I liked this more than the previous ones but it was too heavy on the character. I felt they were kind of disconnected in a way that did not make the story flow. Overall, i liked the idea of the story premise.

Review: Under the Never Sky
Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Aria liked her world of make believe in the realms until they turned into a horrifying reality that she had to face caused of letting a savage into the building she is cast out on her own away from the only home she has ever known and into an unknown world she has spent her life fearing. Perry grew up in this world and learned how to survive but he now needs the help of one person who doesn't belong in the world he grew up to help him get his nephew back.
This was quite the story. The only thing that I didn't really like about it was the time span increments at some points. I up fully understand the rationale behind it but I just kept getting annoyed.
I loved how this wasn't a love at first sight story and that the characters had to learn and understand from one another. Rossi did a great job in showing the different worlds that both aria and Perry grew up in and plausibly making them fit together in something neither fully understood.
I was a little confused about Perry's abilities in the beginning but Rossi did a good job fully explaining everything by the end.
This is a great dystopian read and I can't wait to start on the second book.

Review: Obsidian
Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
When Katy moved to a new town she knew things were going to be a little weird but she had no idea she was going to stumble across a bunch of aliens! With resistance from everyone except her new best friend Dee, Katy has to face her growing attraction for an alien she can’t have, Daemon.
I absolutely adored the love/hate relationship going on between Katy and Daemon through the whole entire book! The author made it really easy for the reader to see both points of view and made the situation intense enough to make everyone’s concerns quite valid. The sexual tension was out of this world (haha!). The characterization was well done and fully developed.
Recommended for alien lovers. Can’t wait to see what is going to happen next.

Review: Angelfall
Angelfall by Susan Ee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Six weeks ago angels came to earth. They were not like what anyone expected, they were mean and without a second thought they took over everything. Penryn is just a girl trying to survive in this new world the angels created and when she stumbled onto an epic angel battle she loses her younger sister in the process. Now with the help of Raffe, an angel that has lost his wings, she has to trust him because he is the only hope of getting her sister back.
The ending was a little funny but overall I thought the rest of the book was really enjoyable. I liked the story line and the characters kept themselves interesting at each turn, even when most of the book just revolving around Penryn and Raffe being together. I liked how strong willed Penryn was and how she was able to cope with the situation.
Being from the San Francisco Bay Area I felt that the author did a wonderful job with that part. The scene and story building were creepy as I could literally picture all of this happening in my own backyard.
I am really excited to read the next book, I would recommend this to fantasy lovers that are not afraid of a little gore and creep factor thrown into the mix.

Review: A Shade of Vampire
A Shade of Vampire by Bella Forrest
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
When Sofia is kidnapped she finds herself trapped on an island of vampires with no hope of escape and her only hope of survival is putting her trust in one of her enemies.
I really enjoyed this book a lot. Derek was written in a way that the reader was able to sympathize with him and at the same time fear what he was capable of just like Sofia was. Sofia had a strong personality but came off quite rational in the situation she found herself in.

Ours is Just a Little Sorrow by Gwen Hayes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Loved this book! I loved the mix of steampunk Victorian with the futuristic dystopian world. Violet was an exceptional lady, I loved her attitude. Gideon was so fun, I loved his character.
The only bad thing about this book is that I wish it had been longer.

Review: Styxx
Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
When I read Acheron's book I hated Styxx but this just goes to show you there are two sides to every story and Styxx ended up having it worse than even Acheron could imagine.
Yes I have to confess it did drag on in parts but overall the story was interesting and really tied everything together. Seeing the same event from different perspectives completely changes the whole thing.

Review: Wyoming Bride
Wyoming Bride by Joan Johnston
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Hannah needs to get her two sisters out of Boston and the only way she can do that is to become a mail order bride. Unfortunately, tragedy strikes leaving her husband dead and Hannah off alone not knowing where her sisters are. If that wasn't bad enough she is with child. Now saved by Flint she strives to keep her secret from him but Flint has a secret of his own he is trying desperately to hide too.
Hannah seemed like a spoiled kid (not as much so apparently as Hetty) but still. I did not like her overall character and attitude towards Flint but at the same time I did not really like Flint as a character that much either. Flint in my opinion left much to be desired, he was pigheaded (which isn't all that too surprising) but the way he went about dealing with Hannah was just so abrupt and standoffish I found it to be an extreme turn off.

Review: Within a Dream
Within a Dream by Tempest C. Avery
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I personally liked the first three books Tempest C. Avery did about these characters. The story was still a little confusing in the beginning but I felt like the plot and characters as a whole were explained better. Those stories also had a lot more of the adventure and suspense that I was hoping to find in this one. While not bad, I think I would have liked it a lot better if I had not read the other ones.
Note: read on swoonreads

Texas Bride (Mail-Order Brides #1) by Joan Johnston

When Miranda turned 18 she has no choice but to leave the orphanage and settle on the prospect of becoming a mail order bride with her two brothers.
Miranda and Jake were so cute together, I loved all of their back and forth banter. The kids added an extra element to the story that really made it interesting.
