Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Railway tycoon Tom Severin possesses immense wealth and influence, allowing him to acquire anything or anyone he desires. However, Lady Cassandra Ravenel, a woman seeking love rather than material comfort, proves to be a challenge. Although Severin is captivated by Cassandra's beauty and wit, she is determined to marry for love, a quality he lacks.
Despite his frozen heart, Severin remains a compelling figure in Cassandra's eyes. Nonetheless, she refuses to be part of his cutthroat world where winning is everything. When Cassandra's reputation is endangered by an enemy, Severin seizes the opportunity to prove his worth. Yet, he may discover that underestimating a Ravenel is a grave mistake.
Cassandra exuded sass and humor, making her character immensely lovable. Her wit and charm drew me in completely. On the other hand, Tom Severin's character intrigued me, particularly his unique thought process and the way he analyzed various literary works. It offered a fresh perspective on how interpretations can vary from person to person.
